Transportation

Accessible transportation

Accessible transportation services are available for all students (including non-Illinois) who are attending the conference. We strongly recommend scheduling transportation at least two weeks in advance.

Bicycle

Champaign-Urbana is bicycle friendly. See more information about getting around campus on a bicycle.

Siebel Center for Design has ample bicycle parking north of the building.

Education Building has limited bicycle parking north of the building.

Bus (MTD)

Champaign-Urbana is served by the MTD bus system. Cost is $1 for most rides. Most routes are designated by a number and color (for example 5 Green).

The Siebel Center for Design and the Education Building are approximately 5 minutes west/east of each other.

Siebel Center for Design (March 6)

  • Fourth and Peabody (2 min southwest of building) is served by the following bus routes: 5 Green, 8 Bronze, 22 Illini, 24 Link

Education Building (March 7)

  • Sixth and Peabody (1 min southwest of building) is served by the following bus routes: 4 Blue, 5 Green, 9 Brown, 21 Raven
  • Gregory at Library (5 min north of building) is served by the following bus routes: 5 Green, 10 Bronze, 13 Silver, 22 Illini

If you choose to drive, here are your parking options.

Street parking

Limited street parking is available on Sixth Street, Peabody Drive, and Pennsylvania Ave. Hourly rates of $1.25/hour can be paid by coins or app (PayByPhone, MobileMeter, ParkMobile).

Accessibility parking

A vehicle displaying a valid state accessibility placard or disability plate may park at designated public accessible spaces or any meter while paying the appropriate meter fee.

Permit parking

Most campus parking lots (including E2 next to Education Building) require a permit. Permits for visitors start at $14/day for visitors. See more information on permits for parking.

Accessibility

If you need disability-related accommodations to participate in the conference, contact Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) at least 2 weeks before the event.

We are thrilled to provide the following accommodations during the conference:

March 7 in the Education Building

  • The keynote speech by Dr. JooYoung Seo will be live (CART) captioned.

  • All presenters will have the opportunity for their draft materials to be reviewed for accessibility! This service was generously provided by DRES.

  • A dedicated sensory/quiet room will be available in Room 160 on the south side of the main floor. There will be comfy seating, fidgets, low lighting, weighted blankets, and a white noise machine.

  • A meditation/prayer room is available in room 372A, on the south side of the third floor. The room is unlocked, available at any time the building is open, and does not need a reservation.

  • A dedicated lactation space is in room 150A, on the south side of the main floor. The room is unlocked, available at any time the building is open, and does not need a reservation.

  • All-gender restrooms are available on the main and ground (basement) floors.

  • Vegetarian, vegan, and other dietary needs will be accommodated for attendees who indicate their dietary needs in their registration.

Accessible Entries

Automatic doors are located at the west, north, east, and south entrances to the first floor of the building.

Parking

Unrestricted metered parking is available along 4th Street. Refer to Lot E12 north of the building or Lot E18 south of the building for additional designated accessible parking. Interior Access Route

West Entrance

From the west entrance, proceed south. Elevator 1 is located on the east wall. A ramp to the basement level is located due east of this entrance.

South Entrance

From the south entrance, proceed north. Elevator 1 is located on the east wall. A ramp to the basement is located due north of this entrance.

North Entrance

From the north entrance, proceed south. Follow the ramp west, then turn south. A ramp to the basement begins at the end of this ramp. Continue south on the first floor and Elevator 1 is located on the east wall.

East Entrance

From the east entrance, proceed west. Follow the ramp, then turn south. The ramp to the basement begins at the end of this ramp. Continue south on the first floor and Elevator 1 is located on the east wall.

Restrooms

All of the restrooms in this building are signed accessible.

All gender signed accessible restrooms are located in rooms 0006 and 1012 in the north portion of the basement and first floor.

Signed accessible restrooms for men are located in rooms 0008 and 1014 in the north portion of the basement and first floor.

Signed accessible restrooms for women are located in rooms 0007 and 1016 in the north portion of the basement and first floor.

Elevators

An elevator is not needed but is provided to change floors in this building. The elevator services all floors. It is located in the southwest portion of the building. See Interior Access Route.

Sensory/Quiet Room

For the duration of the conference, a dedicated sensory/quiet room is available in 160 on the Southwest side of the main floor. There is comfy seating, fidgets, low lighting, and a white noise machine.

Prayer/Meditation Room

A dedicated prayer and meditation space in room 372A is available on the South side of the third floor. The room is unlocked, available at any time the building is open, and does not need a reservation.

Accessible Entries

There are 3 designated accessible parking spaces in Lot E2 and 1 designated accessible parking space in Lot E19. Unrestricted metered parking is available along Sixth Street. Interior Access Route

From the southwest entry, proceed east approximately 35 feet. Elevator 2 is located on the south wall.

Restrooms

Signed accessible restrooms for women are located in rooms 13 on the ground floor, 113 on the first floor, and 213 on the second floor.

All gender signed accessible restrooms are located in rooms 71 on the ground floor, and 172 and 173 on the first floor.

Elevators

An elevator is needed and provided to change floors in this building. Elevator 1, servicing all floors, is located in the north end of the building. Elevator 2, servicing all floors, is located in the south end of the building. See Interior Access Route.

Lactation Space

A dedicated Lactation Space is in room 150A in the South side of the main floor. The room is unlocked, available at any time the building is open, and does not need a reservation.


Wi-Fi Access for Visitors and Guests

The IllinoisNet_Guest network is designed to provide temporary Wi-Fi access for visitors and guests who do not have an Illinois account. This network allows you to register for internet access while you're on campus.

How to Access Wi-Fi Without an Illinois NetID

  1. Select the IllinoisNet_Guest network from your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
  2. A login screen should automatically appear. If it does not, open your web browser and try loading a website likeillinois.edu to trigger the login page.
  3. Once the login screen appears, choose Guest Wi-Fi Access.
  4. Enter your name, phone number, and email address. After accepting the terms of use, click the orange Register button.
  5. Your email address will be assigned as a username, and a randomly-generated password will be provided. Record these details for your reference, then click the orange Login button.
  6. After a brief loading period, your device will be connected to the internet via IllinoisNet_Guest.

Guest Registration Details

  • Access Duration: The guest registration is valid for 24 hours, expiring at 4:00 AM the next day. You can re-register for continued access each day.
  • Multi-Device Use: The username and password from your first registration can be used to sign in to IllinoisNet_Guest on other devices during the same 24-hour period.
