Professor Herrera Joins Board of ALESCO (Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization" Journal

Professor Linda Herrera has been asked by the Institute of Arab Research and Studies of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALESCO) to join the Advisory Board of the Arab Educational Research and Studies Journal.  Through this position she will continue with her contributions to Arab social sciences and educational research. See https://madaa.journals.ekb.eg/

Offering Professional Development Hours for Illinois Public Educators

In compliance with the Illinois State Board of Education, the Council on Teacher Education (CoTE) approves qualifying professional development events for licensed educators. All departments or units that want to award professional development hours (PDHs) must secure advanced approval by submitting a PDH proposal on the CoTE website. Microcredentials for Illinois Educators

Faculty developing microcredentials for Illinois public educators should contact the Council on Teacher Education (CoTE). CoTE coordinates the microcredential process with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) so that Illinois public educators may earn a digital badge on their Professional Educator License. ISBE must approve microcredentials prior to Illinois public educators earning them. Please contact pdh@cote.illinois.edu for more information. 

Doctoral Student Participates in Newberry Summer Institute

Doctoral candidate Christopher Getowicz participates in Newberry Consortium in American Indian and Indigenous Studies (NCAIS) Summer Institute. The Institute brings students to the Newberry for a four-week intensive graduate course on an important theme in Indigenous Studies. As a selected participant he conducted the months long research symposium and conducted archival research for his dissertation on the history of education in postwar Minneapolis.
